Nazrul Islam is aged 30 years and lives in Narsingdi, because of poverty he dropped out from school, in 2007, he went to Malaysia, and found a job in a shop. He had a good life and was able to send money home. In the middle of July, 2016 he was driving a company car, when suddenly the car went out of control and collided with one coming in the opposite direction. He ended up with a severe spinal cord injury. He was admitted to a Government hospital at Malaysia, and after being assessed   as to the best course of action, he was sent back to Bangladesh. He was operated on in a private hospital at Dhaka, and then came to CRP for rehabilitation. CRP’s multidisciplinary team including doctors and therapists assessed him and provided him with therapeutic and counseling services.  When he came to CRP he could neither sit unaided, nor did he have any balance or control of his muscles. After staying here for six months he can sit without any support and can do everything with his hands. He is now much more confident, as he can do most of his daily activities by himself, according to his therapists, Nazrul is a tetraplegic patient, his upper limb strength is good and he can do most of his chores by himself. He can also move independently in a modified environment. Though his employer in Malaysia promised to support him, the support was not forthcoming, and no contact has been made by his previous employer. He is very grateful to the donors of CRP who sponsored him, so he could complete his rehabilitation at CRP. He will set up a poultry farm in his village and thus, going to start his own business.
